Isla by Rachel Simpson
Isla is a really great shoe for those wanting an elegant lower heel, without compromising on style. It’s really comfortable and almost doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a heel at all- just enough to give you a bit of a lift! There are ten appliqued leaf shapes on the front, made up of seven individually cut pieces of leather and intricately stitched on to the shoe. By mixing both gold and silver leather together we’ve made Isla really versatile, as you can wear it with either gold or silver accessories- hurrah for mixed metallics! The main shoe is made in ivory leather, which compliments the metallic detailing really nicely. Here at Rachel Simpson we love a back detail, so you’ll also find a few little leaves nestling underneath the t-bar strap.
It’s actually quite hard to make a t-bar work as well on a lower heel as it does on a higher one. If you’re not careful it can make your foot look really long, and the shoe look really frumpy, and no one wants that. So we spent ages perfecting the cut, in particular the front part of the shoe, making sure it wasn’t too high that it looked old fashioned, but not so low it showed too much toe! We added the tiny little cut outs inside the teardrop shape so you can see a bit of skin which also adds to ‘lighten’ the shoe. These little holes are also perfect for a shoe clip- our Sparkle shoe clip works particularly well with Isla.
